Dietary Director - Full-time - Dietary
Position Description: Regular, Exempt, full-time position. The Dietary Director works directly with the Dietary staff and assists them with the every day operation of the Dietary department. The Director develops department goals and objectives and selects, trains, orients, schedules and provides education to Dietary staff to meet these goals and objectives. Develops menus appropriate for all patient nutritional needs.
Average Weekly Hours: 40+ per week
Education: Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Service Manager, or similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body preferred.
Minimum Qualifications: At least 21 years of age. Good organizational skills and the ability to work well with people. Must possess a high standard of ethical behavior and be able to adjust professional thinking for both the short-term patient and long-term resident. Must be in good health and able to work extended hours. Must be able to communicate effectively in a verbal and written manner with subordinates, co-workers, customers and patients.
Experience: Two years supervisory experience required. Experience working in a medical facility dietary department desired.
Physical Requirements: Sitting and standing part of the working time with considerable walking, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects.
Certification Required: Dietary Director, Food Service Manager or similar national certification for food service management and safety from a national certifying body.
Comments: May be exposed to biochemical hazards, odors and infectious waste. May be subject to cuts, bruises, falls and burns. May be subjected to cramped working areas. Exposure to varying temperature changes of freezer and kitchen area.
